What is Energy Star?
The Energy Star program was created as a partnership between the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The database provides many standardized approaches for calculating a product’s or piece of equipment’s energy consumption.
The ENERGY STAR® mark is supported by the United States government and is well-known for delivering information that is clear, dependable, and objective when it comes to energy savings for both individuals and companies. Energy efficiency solutions that improve air quality and public health, preserve the environment, and save money are the result of a collaborative effort between the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and thousands of commercial, industrial, utility, state, and municipal organizations (including more than forty percent of the Fortune 500®).
ENERGY STAR has been working with other organizations to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 4 billion metric tons and save 5 trillion kilowatt-hours of power for homes and businesses in the United States since 1992. Every dollar invested by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the ENERGY STAR program has resulted in savings of nearly $350 in energy costs for American homes and businesses. As a result of ENERGY STAR and its allies’ combined efforts, American customers saved over $42 billion on energy bills and 520 billion kilowatt-hours of power in 2020.
